Upper School Wins Sustainability Contest
For the past seven years, the U.S. Green Building Council–Missouri Gateway Chapter has sponsored a Green Schools Quest competition. The contest encourages students from preschool through high school to design and implement low-cost, high-impact sustainability practices within their schools and communities. This year, 2,000 students representing 68 St. Louis-area schools participated in the contest, and a national panel of judges awarded Principia Upper School 1st place in the high school category for its many and varied Impact Challenge projects!
Participating schools had from October to March to design and implement their projects, and each student team received help from one of 68 volunteer Green Mentors, professionals with an interest or expertise in sustainability. Collectively, the projects implemented by this year’s participants had a positive impact on more than 45,000 students, faculty, and community members.
All levels at Principia School participated in Impact Challenge projects, with the Upper School winning the Green Schools Quest high school competition. Watch the video submitted to the Green Schools Quest contest, and learn more about the School's Impact Challenge Showcase.
