Class of 2022 Meets the Future with Resilience and Grace
Graduates, family and friends, and faculty and staff gathered in the sunshine on the Chapel Green to celebrate commencement and the beginning of a new chapter for the graduates.
The Class of 2022’s Principia College journey was marked by resilience, as well as grace, joy, and humor, observed President John Williams (C’76) in his opening address. He compared this class’s experience to a sword tempered by intense heat, becoming stronger as new challenges are faced and overcome.
Graduates are taking that same resiliency and joy into their new adventures. Some graduates will continue their studies at new institutions. In the fall, Delaney Gatine will begin law school at George Washington University, and Kenzie Winton will study public policy at Pepperdine University.
Other graduates will begin internships and jobs. Molly Loveless will intern for Squeaky Bicycle Productions, a New York theatre company; Sophie Hills will write and edit for The Christian Science Monitor; Cole Heinbaugh will work in cloud computing at IBM; and Emmet Wainwright will develop software for Spectra Logic.
Still others will return to work at Principia College as Post-Graduate Teaching Interns (PGTIs). After a summer interning for The Christian Science Monitor, Rhyan du Peloux will assist the Languages and Cultures Program as a PGTI. Noela Nandy will also return as a PGTI for the Sociology and Anthropology program.
Commencement speaker Dr. Scheherezade “Sherri” (Issari) Black (C’76), CEO of Sage Coaching, concluded her speech with a rousing call to the graduates: “Stand tall. Believe in yourself, Class of 2022! Look out into a world filled with flourishing possibilities, step into your light, and shine. Green pastures are before you; all is well.”
Congratulations Principia College Class of 2022!
