Five Seniors Join the Cum Laude Society
In May, five seniors were inducted into the Cum Laude Society in a virtual, videotaped ceremony that was shared with all Upper School families. This year’s inductees are Sidney Bradley, Kelsey Hanser, Gloria Ishimwe, Katherine Peticolas, and Kylie Schriver.
Gloria, who was chosen by senior girls to receive the Ann O. Spaulding Award, was also chosen by her peer inductees as the ceremony’s student speaker. Gloria shared what she has learned about the role failure sometimes plays on the road to success, using examples from her own life of learning how to ride a bicycle and failing an assignment. Instead of dwelling on failures, she urged learning from mistakes and trying harder. “Don’t let failure stop you from going on,” she said. “Failure is an opportunity . . .”
