A Summer Session of Learning and Fun

In June, Summer Sessioners gathered on the Principia College campus for two enriching weeks of fun, learning, and relaxation. This year marked the 67th anniversary of Summer Session at the College.
Program highlights included stunning musical performances by pianist Lindsay Garritson (C’08), cellist Ashley Garritson (US’99), professor emerita Dr. Marie Jureit-Beamish, and Indie-award-winning duo Al Petteway and Amy White. In addition, Heather Vogel Frederick (C’79), Longyear Museum’s head of research and publications, gave a book talk about the museum’s newest publication, Life at 400 Beacon Street: Working in Mary Baker Eddy’s Household. And a special Bible focus program featured talks and classes by Dr. Barry Huff (US’98 C’02), Dr. Sue Humble, Dr. Shirley Paulson (US’66, C’70), and Bible Roads Founder Madelon Maupin (C’73). As always, a wide variety of classes were offered—in music, the arts, engineering, mediation, history, and more!
This year, Summer Sessioners came from more than 25 states and as far away as England and Australia. Here’s how a few of them described the program:
- “Atmosphere of love, joy. Beautiful setting with lovely people.”
- “A meaningful vacation.”
- “Meeting old and new friends. Sharing a love of learning with others.”
- “There were so many wonderful courses, activities, friendships, etc. How could we possibly fit in more? The entire two weeks were wonderful!”
