State Track and Field Achievements
Senior Siwa Asinga (above) brought home three medals from the Class 2 State Track and Field Championships. She won the 100 m dash in 12 seconds flat, .22 seconds faster than her time in the prelims and a personal best. She also won the 300 m hurdles in 43:32, setting a new Class 2 State record. In the 200 m dash, she placed 2nd. Her time of 25 seconds flat was only .08 seconds behind the winner.
Among the boys, senior Nathan Babcock won the 800 m run, finishing in 1:57.71, nearly four seconds ahead of the 2nd-place runner. The 4x800 m relay team also won, coming in a full seven seconds ahead of the 2nd-place team. The relay team members were seniors Nathan Babcock and Stevie Keyes, junior Bramwell Havi, and sophomore Kyedence Jordan. In addition, Bramwell placed 2nd in the 1600 m, setting a personal record with a time of 4:30.71. Overall, the boys’ team took 4th place at the meet.
In other events, Principia placed 4th in the boys’ 4x400 m relay. Juniour Baraza, a senior, placed 8th in the 400 m, and Howard James, a junior, set a personal record with a long jump of 21'04" to place 5th. Principia also competed but did not reach the finals in the boys’ 4x200 m relay and girls’ 4x100 m relay.
