Dr. Barry Huff to Present Colloquium Talk
Religion professor Dr. Barry Huff will present the first academic colloquium of the year on Friday, October 19, at 1 p.m. in Wanamaker Hall. His talk “Job's Transformation of the Torah and God's Embrace of the Marginalized” is based on a chapter of his dissertation, Dipped in Filth and Clothed in Glory: Job’s Transformation of Priestly Terms, Themes, Texts, and Theologies. Huff spent a term researching his dissertation at Oxford University before receiving his PhD with distinction from Union Presbyterian Seminary.
Huff regularly presents his work at academic conferences, including at many different sections of the Society of Biblical Literature. He also presents to popular audiences, having given nearly 300 Bible talks around the world.
Huff publishes material for both academic and popular audiences as well. His paper “Mary Baker Eddy: Liberating Interpreter of the Pauline Corpus” appears in Strangely Familiar: Proto-Feminist Interpretations of Patriarchal Biblical Texts, published by the Society of Biblical Literature. In addition, he has created 26 podcasts on the Ten Commandments, Beatitudes, and the Lord’s Prayer, all geared for use in Christian Science Sunday Schools.
Huff’s colloquium is free and open to the public. His talk will also be available to download from Principia Internet Radio.
