Dig Deep into Sustainability at Student-Run PAC
Growing populations in urban areas pose significant environmental challenges, but the problem also lends itself to powerful, large-scale solutions. This year’s Public Affairs Conference (PAC), “Sustainability: Define, Design, Evolve,” will focus on sustainability implemented at the city level. It takes place Thursday through Saturday, April 5–7, and is open to the public.
Speakers from around the country will discuss what it means to design a truly sustainable future—from corporate management to social justice to urban and architectural design. The conference will feature TED-style talks, networking opportunities, catered meals, and more.
Speakers include David Miller, North American Director of the C40 Climate Leadership Group, Global Ambassador of Inclusive Climate Action, and former mayor of Toronto; Jack Scott, Director of Sustainability at Nestlé North America and Vice President at Purina; Dan Hellmuth and Ralph Bicknese from Hellmuth + Bicknese architectural firm; and Pandora Thomas, Co-Founder of the Black Permaculture Network and Coalition Member of the Toyota Green Initiative, among others.
The longest-running student-led public affairs conference in the nation, PAC is celebrating its 69th year of bringing remarkable speakers to campus to engage with conference delegates (attendees) on current topics.
“Delegates will be exposed to the mindset, principles, and skills necessary for the creation of sustainable cities and gain a better understanding of the ways in which defining and implementing sustainability at the city level has the power to evolve individual influence into global impact,” says this year’s PAC Executive Director Gabriella Burns (C’18, front row, center). “Join us to discover the appeal of cities designed to empower people, preserve our environment, and fuel our economy.”
