Latest College Rankings Confirm Principia's Success
U.S. News & World Report has ranked Principia #9 in its 2018 list of Best Value Schools—a distinction reserved for national liberal arts colleges that provide the highest quality of education for the lowest price. Up from #14 in last year’s Best Value list, Principia is the only Midwestern school in the top 10—in the company of Williams, Wellesley, Swarthmore, and Middlebury Colleges. The report also recognized Principia in the list of Best National Liberal Arts Colleges (the top schools in the nation that emphasize undergraduate education and award at least half of their degrees in the arts and sciences) and ranked Principia #11 for Most International Students.
In other recent rankings, Principia earned a spot on the 2018 list of Midwestern colleges that The Princeton Review considers “academically outstanding and well worth consideration.” Principia was one of only 18 private colleges across the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. to be designated a Best Buy School in the 2018 Fiske Guide to Colleges. And Principia is ranked #37 in Kiplinger’s 2017 list of Best Values in Liberal Arts Colleges.
While Principia College President Dr. Jonathan Palmer appreciates the recognition Principia is garnering nationally, he considers student feedback and achievements to be the most important measures of success. “Students often tell us of the outstanding education they receive here,” he notes, “and our alumni report that the foundation they received at Principia launched them into meaningful and productive careers. We’re very pleased to appear in these notable rankings; the recognition confirms the exceptional value of a Principia College education.”
