Shane Witters-Hicks
Physics major (with a global studies minor), Class of 2017
"I came to Principia thinking its small size might prevent me from having cool and unique opportunities that big universities offer, only to realize that the reverse is really the case."
On Athletics
"The cross-country team is like a family to me, showing me my potential, teaching me the wonders of genuine friendship, and cultivating my character by leaps and bounds.”
On Opportunities
"I love the breadth of opportunity Principia students have. I’ve taken almost purely physics and comp sci classes one semester, and spent the next semester studying philosophy and anthropology in India and Nepal. I’ve spent the morning studying Spanish and then, in the afternoon, helped build a race-ready solar car. I’ve crunched through the leaves on a run with my physics advisor while we discuss topics like string theory and the best flavor of pop tart, and then sated my hunger over dinner with a prestigious energy economist and environmental lawyer."
