Tune In to Prin@thePolls on Election Night
Join Principia Internet Radio as political science and mass communication classes at Principia College work together to deliver five continuous hours of extensive, live coverage of national elections on Tuesday night, November 6. Tune in to Prin@thePolls, at 6 p.m. (CST), for breaking news reports, live call-ins, and analyses and commentaries from correspondents for The Christian Science Monitor, elected officials, and other experts. Students will also share researched reports and roundtable discussions on women candidates in U.S. Senate races, election campaign history and process, and other key issues.
Principia Internet Radio (PIR) provides a learning resource and laboratory where students from a range of departments can collaborate on complex projects like this one. The educational experience is intensified by the discipline of producing a live radio broadcast—bringing history, politics, communication, and technology into focus all at once in an environment of real-time events with a real, live audience.
Political science students are preparing a variety of election night reports, news updates, and analyses. Mass communication students have been working on publicity and promotion for the event, with radio students taking key production roles in the studio during the broadcast. Over 100 students in all are participating in this interdepartmental example of experiential learning at Principia.
Hear Prin@thePolls on PIR this Tuesday from 6 to 11 p.m.
