Countdown to Upper School Reunion
The oft-heard fall phrase “back to school” takes on new meaning next week as more than 400 Upper School alumni, spouses, and friends return to the St. Louis campus! The 50th Reunion classes of 1963 and 1964 will set the ball rolling on Wednesday, September 11, with a special dinner. The next day, there’s a morning walk, campus tour, luncheon, presentations about Principia Lifelong Learning online programs and upcoming trips, and an evening reception.
Reunions officially being celebrated range from 10 to 65 years, but we know of at least two Upper School alumni who will be marking 75 years since graduation!!
Beloved alumni and longtime faculty and staff members Bill Simon (US'54) and Ted Munnecke (C'57) kick off Friday with a chapel talk followed by several field trip opportunities. Then, back on campus that evening, Butch Wax and the Hollywoods will take listeners on a musical stroll down Memory Lane. Class dinners and parties top the list of Saturday highlights, along with a barbecue and varsity football game.
Two athletic affinity groups will be reconnecting during reunion as well. For the first time ever, Upper School women’s field hockey alums will gather for a Saturday morning brunch, an alumni game, and, most important, a field dedication ceremony honoring coach Julianne (Julie) Oakes (US ’40, C’44), who served, variously, as teacher, coach, and athletic director for nearly 40 years. Football players from all generations will also come together, joining for golf, an alumni barbecue, and—of course!—cheering on our Panthers at Saturday’s homecoming game.
Don’t miss a minute of this jam-packed reunion weekend, September 11–14. Register now!
