Career Conference Prepares Students for Next Steps
The 2014 Career Conference took place in mid-January with over 60 sophomores, juniors, seniors, and recent grads in attendance. Most conference sessions were presented by internationally known lecturer and author Don Asher, who specializes in professional development and higher education. During the three-day intensive program, attendees worked on resumes and cover letters, discussed career goals, learned about the “hidden” job market, and found out how to utilize social media effectively in a job search. They also heard an inspirational talk about how to serve the Cause of Christian Science in any job or career.
Professionals from a variety of fields held mock interviews, and attendees participated in an interactive session on dressing for success. The conference concluded with a networking reception, where they put all they had learned into practice.
By all accounts, attendees found the conference informative and valuable. Or as senior Ben Frederick put it, “The first day alone was worth the cost of admission.”
